Beginning, Middle & End (2012) is a sculpture with no pedestal. The floor is its base. The same could be said of other wheeled works of mine like Marsupial, Ark Ark and Russian Thistle. All were made in 2012-2013.

With all three seats removed, the purpose of Beginning, Middle and End is left to the imagination; it might once have carried three thin geriatrics or served as a baby carriage for triplets.

Even cheap wheel chairs like these are remarkably nimble. Ganged together, three can move as smoothly as one. In the gallery, viewers instinctively rise to the occasion and push Beginning, Middle and End around, at either a slow stroll or a canter, missing everyone in a crowded room while others impatiently wait their turn.
