Ukulele is a darkened room painted black on the inside. Within the room, there is an elevated deck that almost fills the floor area. Viewers enter through a small vestibule and stand inside a slot cut into the deck. Lights travel across the walls in a steady rhythm. Now and then a robot rapidly lofts ping-pong balls of different colors into the room. The balls fly into the air, hitting the ceiling, walls, and deck and recirculating constantly. The noise they make is audible from outside the room. Inside the room, the sound is loud and arrhythmic. Proper installation of this sculpture would require a space with the following minimum dimensions: 8.53 m x 6.40 m x 3.35 m (high).
